Our ‘Anaesthesia As Safe As Possible’ (ASAP) regime is designed to maximise safety and promote a smooth recovery. As part of this regime, we offer an optional in-house pre-anaesthetic blood test to check the function of vital organs before surgery.
How We Monitor Pets During Anaesthesia
Apalert
An Apalert continuously tracks your pet’s breathing patterns during anaesthesia. It immediately alerts our team if any disruption occurs, allowing us to respond quickly.
Pulse oximeter
This non-invasive monitor measures oxygen levels in the blood, helping us ensure your pet remains well-oxygenated throughout the procedure.
Blood pressure monitor
Blood pressure is monitored throughout surgery and corrective actions are taken if the pressure drops too low.
ECG
The heart rate and rhythm is monitored throughout surgery and corrective actions taken if an arrhythmia is noted.
Capnography
The carbon dioxide level in expired breath is monitored throughout surgery as a measure of how effectively the patient is being ventilated and to monitor the patient’s respiratory efficiency.
