Anesthetic Safety
Your pet’s safety is our top priority during anaesthesia. We use fast-acting anaesthetic agents for a smooth and quick recovery, supported by pre-medication to keep your pet calm and stress-free. A qualified veterinary nurse continuously monitors blood pressure, oxygen levels, temperature, heart rate and breathing throughout anaesthesia and recovery.
For longer or more complex surgeries, such as bitch speys or procedures on older pets, we administer intravenous fluids to maintain blood pressure and enable prompt treatment if complications arise. We also offer in-house blood testing before anaesthesia to identify any underlying health concerns, ensuring the safest possible care for your pet.
Patient Comfort
During your pet’s stay with us, we make their comfort and wellbeing our priority. Our hospital features under-floor heating, air conditioning and spacious, clean wards to ensure pets stay warm in winter and cool in summer. Cats and dogs enjoy soft bedding, regular cleaning and, for dogs, frequent toilet walks and access to outdoor runs.
Long-term cat patients have double accommodation with separate sleeping and litter areas. Pain relief is carefully managed for all pets in need. We also have a dedicated isolation unit to safely house pets with contagious conditions. Pet owners are welcome to visit or tour our hospital facilities anytime.
Qualified Nurses
Our dedicated veterinary nurses are passionate about caring for pets and supporting their owners. Each nurse is qualified to a national certificate or diploma level and registered with the NZVNA. We also encourage ongoing education to keep skills and knowledge up to date, with several of our nurses holding the highest veterinary nursing qualification available in New Zealand.

Payment Facilities
Payment for all companion animal services is required at the time of your appointment. We accept credit card, EFTPOS, cheque and cash payments. While we don’t offer credit, our EasyPet Plan is a convenient savings option to help manage your pet care costs. Learn more about how this plan can make budgeting for vet bills easier.
Skilled Vets and Referral Services
Our veterinarians bring extensive experience and stay at the forefront of veterinary medicine through ongoing education, conferences and international collaboration. Each vet has their own areas of expertise, allowing us to offer a wide range of advanced veterinary services. We also accept referrals from other clinics, meaning there’s often no need to travel outside Marlborough for specialised care. Vet Marlborough is fully equipped to handle most cases locally.

Whatever your pet supply needs, you’ll find it at Vet Marlborough. If an item isn’t in stock, we can order it for you. Our range includes premium pet foods, bowls, treats, collars, leads, muzzles, toys, dog clothing including life jackets, shampoos, supplements, flea and worm treatments, cat doors, dental care products and grooming essentials.
Nutrition
Providing a balanced, high-quality diet is essential for your pet’s health. At Vet Marlborough, we stock premium commercial pet foods, including Eukanuba, Hill’s and Royal Canin, with options to suit all ages, breeds and activity levels. Our trained reception team can offer professional advice to select the best diet for your pet. We also carry a full range of veterinary therapeutic diets for pets with specific health needs, supported by our veterinarians’ expertise in nutrition.
